Ayurvedic Matcha Oatmeal Recipe

If you’re familiar with my Instagram or recipe ebook, you know my attitude towards oats: they’re simply a canvas in need of your creative, loving touch. And so it is with this delicious bowl of matcha oatmeal!

Thanks to my friend Elise Museles, I’ve been obsessed with matcha. Matcha latte with homemade cashew mylk (simply soak 1 cup cashews overnight in water, then rinse and blend with 5 cups water, find recipe for latte here) has become my morning ritual, along with meditation.

Matcha Latte

Naturally, one day I decided to sprinkle some matcha over my oats, then it slowly but surely made its way inside the oatmeal. The result? Delicious, refreshingly green perfection. Combined with healing ghee, honey and moringa, it’s a meal complete with an abundance of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Perfect for a cold day! Ayurvedic Matcha Oatmeal Recipe | Breakfast Criminals

Ayurvedic Matcha Oatmeal Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats (or gluten free porridge mix made from different grains)
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon matcha (I recommend Do Matcha)
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • Optional: 1 serving collagen peptides (for protein)

Toppings: Ripe banana, golden plum, Le Pain Quotidien Caravan Mix, MoreMoringa superfood and Blend Co Skin Blend.

Directions:

  1. Combine oats and water in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Once it boils, add almond milk and stir well.
  3. Let it cook for another 5 minutes on high hear, or until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Pour oatmeal into a bowl and top with the suggested toppings or get creative and use what you have.
