This oat milk French toast recipe is simple and comes with a vegan version, too!Oat Milk French Toast Recipe with Oatly by Breakfast Criminals
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Oatly Barista Edition Oatmilk
  • 3 eggs (for a vegan version, replace with "flax eggs" – in this case, whisk 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed with ⅓ cup water)
  • 2 TBSP maple syrup
  • ¼ tspn sea salt
  • Approximately 6 slices of ¾ inch toast. I used a sourdough loaf from a local bakery. I recommend using a thick bread like Challah that you can cut into thick pieces. Important note: the bread should be a bit stale! The best way to achieve it is to cut up the bread as soon as you buy it, and wait a couple of days.
  • 3 shakes of cinnamon
  • Coconut oil, butter or plant-based butter for frying
  • Toppings: Fresh berries, maple syrup, hemp seeds
Instructions
  1. Whisk together oat milk, eggs (or flax eggs), maple syrup, sea salt, and cinnamon. Let the mixture thicken.
  2. Soak a slice of bread in the oat milk mixture from 2 minutes to overnight (depending on your level of patience), and shake off excess.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a frying pan.* Optionally, you can cook your french toast in an air fryer. For air fryer version, cut the bread into sticks, soak each stick in the oat milk mixture, and cook for about 8 minutes total at 350 degrees F (keep checking on it while it's cooking – every air fryer is different!)
  4. Fry for about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  5. Repeat with each slice.
  6. Serve warm with fresh berries and a drizzle of maple syrup.
