Monday Morning Blues Be Gone Orange Smoothie Recipe
Monday morning blues? Haven’t heard.
Just kidding–of course I’ve been there. That dreadful feeling that creeps in on Sunday night, alerting you that the weekend is coming to an end, and you didn’t have enough time to do all the things you wanted to do.

I’ve been there, and I’ve ended up wandering around until 2am avoiding going to bed to prolong the weekend, to only wake up unrested, and then put myself (and my breakfast) together in a rush. Not the most mindful morning… eeek!

I invite you to flip the perspective.

Imagine the best Monday morning you’ve ever experienced. How would that look in detail, from waking up to going to bed?

Then, find the small things within your imaginary day (actually write them down!), and think of the ways you can infuse them into your actual day.

Believe that good things are going to happen. And when you find small joy in everyday moments, they really do.

You heard it right: instead of waiting for something outside to happen for you to have a fabulous morning, I invite you to schedule it.

To incorporate all senses for the most powerfully joyful impact, let’s invite all the senses to a Monday Morning party: smell and touch (aromatherapy recipe), sight and taste (beautiful and delicious plant-based smoothie) and hearing (fun music).

The 5 senses (photo c/o Birchbox)

We associate life experiences with the specific things that our senses remember in the moment. Which means that it can work the other way around, too: we can use specific sensory experiences to bring up the feelings of joy that we associate with them.

Growing up in Russia, tangerines, or mandarins, were a staple during New Year holidays, and the smell reminds me of being with my family on a sunny, snowy, crisp winter day.

It’s a good day to have a good day.

I want to introduce you to a juicy and energizing Orange/Tangerine-inspired yoga mist and breakfast recipes, and a playlist to boot for the most joyful Monday morning!

Sweet Orange & Bergamot Monday Morning Mist

I’ve recently been getting into essential oils–as they’re derived from plants in their most powerful state, they are known to shift emotions and moods. Just like I remember experiences through music

It started by using pure essential oils and blends in my mediation practice, and then I discovered how fun it is to create my own blends which can serve as the base for all kinds of creations from body wash and butter to nail oil, hand scrub and room mist.

In this Monday Morning Mist, I’ve combined the cheerful scent of sweet orange, refreshing citrusy bergamot, and comforting lavender, to create an energizing mist that feels like a burst of sunshine on  a winer day.  Spray around yourself and on your bed as soon as you wake up, and feel the vibration of your Monday morning instantly change.

I used organic essential oils from Aura Cacia (my favorite!) derived from simple and pure plants grown without pesticides.

If you’re not feeling adventurous enough to create your own essential oil mist, check out the Yoga Mist line of divine mists that you can use on body, yoga mat, or to create a mindful, meditative space anywhere you go!
