How To Be A Morning Person: Danika Brysha’s Morning Routine

Danika Brysha's Self-Care Morning Routine

“The morning hours are when I am most present and connected and so I think it’s really important to give those to my partner and myself.” 

The first time we connected over email, Danika told me that following a morning routine changed her life. Her favorite way to make sure she sticks to it? By scheduling it in! That’s where the Daily Self-Care Checklist comes in, and that’s why Danika is currently writing a book on it.

Danika wakes up bright and early along with her boyfriend Chef Bill Haley and adorable English Mastiff Kingsley.

Here Danika–who is the founder and CEO of Model Meals, founder of The Brunch Series, and a model with IMG models –guides us through her transformational morning routine full of matcha, meditation, and manifestation.

Danika Brysha’s Morning Routine

1. Clear the space

Make your bed to create clarity in your space, and don’t get on your phone right away! Danika keeps electronics and her alarm out of the bedroom to help get her sleepy self out of bed to turn off the alarm. Try to NOT get on your phone as soon as you open your eyes so that you don’t get distracted by the external messages first thing in the day.

2. Bulletproof matcha

3. Journal for 15 minutes

This usually includes a stream of consciousness writing or answering prompts such as “I am..” or “I feel…” to a timer set for 15 minutes.

4. Meditate for 20 minutes

Cozy up and meditate for 20 minutes. You can meditate with your partner, with crystals in hand (in this case, the calming and clearing selenite, or both!)

5. Daily Happiness Checklist

Danika reviews this list every morning. It can include cleaning, journaling, meditating, and surrendering from anything that is holding her back from living her best possible expression. This is followed by prayer, gratitude, affirmations, and writing a biography as herself from the future. What is a Statement of Surrender?

Here’s an example from Danika, you can say it out loud or write down in your journal: “I surrender anything that holds me back from living my best possible expression. I surrender unnecessary fear. I surrender my struggle with food.”

What is a Biography of Yourself from the Future?

This is a manifestation process that helps you focus on the feelings you want to experience rather than only think about the external. It helps you get crystal clear on what’s really important for you. To do it, write it in the third person as if someone else is telling your story. Read more about writing a bio from the future.

Danika runs a healthy meal delivery business, so her fridge tends to be stocked with nourishing food. During the takeover, Danika threw together leftover veggies in a skillet (sweet potatoes, peppers, spaghetti squash, cauliflower rice) paired with a meat sauce. She then sits down to breakfast at the table with Kingsley and her boyfriend.

7. Movement

The final step in her routine is to get her body moving by giving Kingsley a morning walk.
