Here’s my latest smoothie bowl recipe, as shared on the lululemon blog. This one’s pretty special. Enjoy :)

My friends used to look at me like I was crazy when they saw me adding spinach, kale and other veggies into my breakfast smoothie bowls. Sweet berries with dark leafy greens? No way.

In this smoothie bowl, not only did I mix açai berries and blackberries with spinach, but I threw in avocado as well. And I gotta tell you, this was one of the best smoothies I’ve ever made. (My roommate Patti, who tries all Breakfast Criminals creations, agrees.)

Adding dark leafy greens to your smoothies helps you fulfill your daily intake of alkaline. You won’t even know the greens are there—trust me on this one. As for the avocado, small amounts of it add super healthy fats to your smoothies and make them thicker and creamier.

And one more tip: I always keep ziplock bags full of spinach, kale, bananas and berries in my freezer. It’s a great way to be healthy smoothie-ready anytime.

This recipe is inspired by my friend Katie Dalebout of The Wellness Wonderland.
